For the second year in a row, Decanter gives 100 points to Fieramonte, Allegrini’s Amarone Riserva

The British “wine bible” once again awards a full score to the label from the historic Valpolicella winery, this time for the 2016 vintage

Fumane (VR), 7 September 2023 – The coveted award remains in the Allegrini household. Fieramonte 2016, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva D.O.C.G., has for the second year running received 100 points from Decanter, the prestigious English publication recognized worldwide as an authoritative source on wine. Last year, in 2022, Fieramonte was the first Amarone, the finest expression of the Valpolicella district, to have received that excellent score. A result that is significant not only for Allegrini, but for the entire designation.

Firmly planted on a mix of values that combines high hillside vineyards and the expert hands of men who know how to get the very best out of their land, Fieramonte receives an important acknowledgment, confirming on one hand the commitment and dedication of the Allegrini winery and on the other the value and the strength of the Valpolicella wine district, increasingly appreciated internationally.

Thanks also to this award, Allegrini’s Amarone Riserva takes on a particular market value at La Place de Bordeaux, one of the world’s oldest wine markets, open to the leading operators. In fact, the Veronese winery has been included in the network since September 2022, with two of its iconic wines serving as the brand’s flagships: La Poja and Fieramonte Amarone della Valpolicella Classico.

In the tasting notes, Georgina Hindle – the editor of Decanter Premium – describes the wine as follows: “. The texture and mouthfeel are just perfect – round, enveloping, the perfect weight to give structure and body with intensity yet nothing is over the top or too much.

Delicious crunchy and fleshy fruit, wonderful minty freshness with accents of incense fragrance, wood spice and exotic spices before a lingering chalky finish with an underlying saltiness. Pure, precise, clearly defined, juicy, totally moreish.”

The 100 points assigned by such a prominent authority as Decanter,” comments the Allegrini family, “make us proud and should make all the Valpolicella area feel the same. The confirmation of the coveted award for the second straight year confirms the true value of the sacrifices we have made, along with our collaborators, as well as the passion that has always animated our winery. Our aim is to continue to produce excellent wines that will represent Italy in the best way possible at the international level, just as Fieramonte does. Included in the network of La Place de Bordeaux, it is the premium wine that best expresses the brand identity and the soul of the Allegrini label.

Allegrini also rejoices for the 98 points awarded to La Poja, the elegant pure Corvina varietal wine resulting from the acumen of Giovanni Allegrini. This label, already famous in the world of fine wines, will be showcased in a series of exclusive tastings featuring its best vintages, with the aim of earning it a leading role on the most prestigious tables.

This important result precedes the release of Fieramonte and La Poja through La Place de Bordeaux.  On September 18, both Fieramonte 2016 and La Poja 2018 will make their debut on the international market.
