Allegrini, first Amarone released on La Place de Bordeaux

Verona, 13 July 2022 – Allegrini is pleased to announce that next September two of its iconic wines will be released on La Place de Bordeaux: La Poja 2017 and Fieramonte Amarone Classico Riserva 2015.
The release will be coordinated by Timothée Moreau of Le Bureau des Grands Vins and handled by ten Négociants, who will carefully distribute each case worldwide (except for Italy and North America).
Firmly committed to excellence, Allegrini is a quality benchmark for the Valpolicella region and Italian wines. Allegrini has developed partnerships with the best importers in over 80 countries, becoming one of the strongest and most international Italian brands.
The distinctive savoir-faire and innate commercial skills of Marilisa Allegrini – also known as ‘Lady Amarone’ – with the innovative winemaking vision of her brother Franco, have made Allegrini one of the leading producers of Valpolicella. Marilisa dedicated with passion the last 40 years to promote her family heritage and territory around the world.
“I am very excited about this new chapter for our company, after the increasing success of our wines in these past decades – declares Marilisa Allegrini – La Poja and Fieramonte are our signature wines, that mark the vision and style of Allegrini. Being part of the elite of the rarest and finest wines in the world was also my brother Franco’s wish and we are thrilled to pursue his lifetime dream today.”
“Our vision is to increase the distribution of our fine wines – adds Allegrini’s Head of Export, Raffaele Augelli – The know-how developed for centuries and international network of the Négociants will be crucial to reach wine lovers and collectors all over the world. We are honoured to be the first producers from our region on La Place and we truly believe that it is the right next step to enhance Allegrini and Valpolicella’s prestige.”

LA POJA
Corvina Veronese I.G.T.
2017
The icon and single vineyard La Poja is the first premium wine without the appassimento method ever made in the region. Giovanni Allegrini purchased this spectacular plot in 1979 when he envisioned a great ‘cru’ of Corvina grapes.
The perfect breezy microclimate of this flat plateau, at the top of the hill La Grola, and its limestone-based soils deliver the best grapes for the production of La Poja. A wine that marked the history of Allegrini, as it has been recognised by international critics as a milestone of the highest quality in Italy since its very first release with the Vintage 1983.
La Poja 2017 has a strong identity with elegant, perfumed notes of wild cherries, dried herbs and spices. A full-bodied wine balanced with a pure freshness, that has a great age ability. The refined tannins and the savouriness on the palate offer a lingering finish and long ageing potential.

FIERAMONTE
Amarone della Valpolicella Classico D.O.C.G.
2015
Fieramonte is the result of a careful selection of the best indigenous grapes, which mature in ideal microclimatic conditions. The idea with this single vineyard is to enhance the most important characteristics of Amarone which in the case of Fieramonte combines the best drying process technique with an incredibly strong sense of place, all according to the Allegrini style.
Fieramonte Amarone Classico Riserva 2015 is a sumptuously opulent and refined wine, with a nose dominated by red fruits and aromatic herbs. The fleshiness of the fruit on the palate explodes and slowly gives way to a firm tannic structure. The finish reveals deep spicy notes that range from black pepper to cloves. A multi-layered wine rich in structure yet balanced by a vertical minerality, precise acidity, and elegance.
