from 10th – 14th November

November 10th - 14th marks the return of the Merano Wine Festival, which showcases the very best in national and international food & wine. The 26th edition celebrates the precious ‘hunting reserve’ that the organizer, Helmut Köcher, ‘Winehunter’ by vocation, shares with visitors each year. This year it will also be via web, with the publication of the online guide ‘The WineHunter Award’. Merano WineFestival 2017 includes participants from over 450 wine companies among the best in Italy and around the world, with nearly 200 fine food producers and 15 prominent chefs.
The wines of Allegrini, Poggio al Tesoro and San Polo will be showcased at tables 251, 252 and 253. In particular, visitors will be able to taste Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2014, La Grola 2001, La Grola 2014, La Poja 2011, Amarone 2013 and La Poja 2011. Solosole Pagus Camilla 2015 and Seggio 2014 will be representing Poggio al Tesoro, with Rosso di Montalcino 2015 representing San Polo.
From 11th - 13th November, the Kurhaus will be hosting ‘Wine Italia’, showcasing over 800 Italian wines, a journey that embraces various areas and wine regions from north to south. The Czerny Room (the name of the architect who designed Kurhaus in 1874) will host ‘Wine International’ with over 250 wines from Spain to Argentina, Lebanon to South Africa and Austria to the Crimea. At the same time, from 10th - 14th November, the ‘Passer Promenade’, the famous promenade along the Passirio River loved by Princess Sissi, will host ‘GourmetArena’, with a careful selection of typical national and international products. ‘Cooking Farm’ will be at the heart of the Chef Arena; from 10th - 14th November, celebrated international chefs will be involved in a ‘cook off’ with the South Tyrolean peasant farmers who are the custodians of local culinary traditions. There will also be the usual Masterclasses and guided tastings of premium national and international wines at Hotel Terme Merano, with proceeds going to charity. Finally, on 14th November, ‘Catwalk Champagne’, a ‘parade’ in the Merano Kursaal of some of the best Maisons de Champagne.
